A low-impact community venue.

Booking options and prices:

  • 1 hour (£8 members/£10 non-members)
  • full day 8am-6pm (£50 members/£60 non-members)
  • a minimum of 2 hours have to be booked
  • two 2-hour slots are available to book in the evening (6-8pm and 8-10pm) and are charged at hourly rate.

Important information

2 hours duration is the minimum time it can be booked for. Book enough time to set up and clean up ready for the next users. £10 per hour or £60 per day. For SCA members – £8 per hour or £50 per day. The day finishes at 6pm. Extra evening hours can be booked if needed and available. Payment needs to be made to confirm your booking.

There is no plumbing or mains electricity for the building. There is a cold water tap the other side of the outside bench. There are solar-powered dimmable lights and fairy lights. Composting toilets are behind the barn. The nearest plumbed toilet facilities are in Hawkwood College.

If you wish to use the log burner, bring dry kindling, a lighter and your own logs.

The space is approximately 6 metres in diameter. There are 15 folding wooden chairs, 3 small folding tables, mugs, kettle and hob, cafetiere, cleaning equipment, curtains, outside boot rack, inside shoe container. Bring whatever else you need. Fold away the rug if you need to. Please do not open the big window as it is challenging to shut.

The key is kept in a key safe attached to the Roundhouse door. You will be informed of the code by email 24 hours before your booked day.

When you first arrive please immediately return the key to the safe and randomise the numbers. Remember to take the door off the latch when you leave and check numbers are randomised with the key in the safe.

A lost key will cost you £15. Any access problems see the emergency number on the door.

Terms of Use

Community users have responsibility for managing risks arising from their own activities, so far as reasonably practicable, when they have control of the building or control of equipment on the premises.

SCA has undertaken reasonable measures to ensure the building, and any equipment or substances provided there, are safe for the purposes of general use for which they were intended. No unattended, unprotected candles please – at all. This is a straw bale house that we all love.

Please inform SCA if you notice any safety issues during your use of the building. There is a comments book, or/and you can email bookings@stroudcommunityagricultre.org. General use of the building is covered by SCA insurance. Any groups using the building should also have their own public liability insurance.

Please leave the building clean and tidy and take your rubbish with you – this is to help keep creatures away and be welcoming for the next users. Ensure that the electric lights and gas hob are turned off. If using the log burner, ensure it is left in a safe state to burn out with its door shut.

There is no paid caretaker which helps to keep costs low. We are all caretakers.

Please be aware that the building is located on a working farm which includes a barn, hay bales (not to be climbed on), electric fences, tractors and other farm machinery. Should users wish to explore the farm they do so at their own risk. Please be respectful of the working environment. Any children should be accompanied by an adult and always remain the responsibility of the accompanying adult.

Cancellation Policy

  1. A £5 non-refundable cancellation fee will be charged to cover admin costs to SCA.
  2. If you cancel more than 2 weeks in advance of your event you will be
    refunded 100% minus the £5 booking fee.
  3. If you cancel within 7-14 days of your event 50% of your payment will be reimbursed.
  4. If you cancel with less than a week to your event then there is no reimbursement.
  5. If you haven’t booked a minimum of 2 hours then we will cancel your booking and ask you to re-book as appropriate. See note 1.
  6. We reserve the right to cancel your booking if it doesn’t align with SCA values.
